Ramón Ivey’s career launched at the early age of nine and spans over three decades. This well seasoned visionary is a mastermind when it comes to creativity in many facets. From performing with local and main-stream music artists, branding small and large companies, producing websites and graphic design, to developing performing artists, producing music videos, coordinating events domestically and internationally. A San Diego native, Ramón Ivey is centered on creating memorable experiences. Forming brands as well as developing the visions of others is where Ramón thrives.
He was raised by his mother, Patricia, in a single parent household. She was determined to keep him from becoming a statistic, preventing him from ending up in gang culture or in prison, she encouraged him to stay active in church and community activities. Little did she know Ramón would be part of a gospel singing and dancing ministry, Steps of Praise, which lead to major opportunities. It was with the gospel group he was able to take part in many shows and tours including dancing background for super star and 18-time Grammy Award winning gospel singer Kirk Franklin, and co-choreograph for Bishop T.D. Jakes. His nearly 10 years of participation in the group cultivated his natural abilities of song writing, performing and choreographing.
At the age of 19, Ramón Ivey not only auditioned and was accepted as first pick to join a popular San Diego Hip Hop crew, Culture Shock Dance Troupe, he was also asked to become a teacher for the studio, Culture Shock Dance Center. That experience sparked his teachings in the dance community, eventually leading to him teaching at 7 different dance studios simultaneously, throughout San Diego county. In addition to dancing for CSDT, he has danced and choreographed for many other crews such as: Urban FX, Body Poets, his own crew - Darkivey and the Corps.
The impact of Ramon's work extends far beyond the confines of the United States. He has gone as far as China using his talents touring the county performing and producing live shows for major night clubs, and teaching multiple dance classes all over China for a span of several years. He was even featured as the opening act for China’s Hurun Report - “Best of the Best” award show in 2014, with an international performance team.
He has performed in over 2000 shows, but an accomplishment he takes great pride in is “Dance 4 Haiti”. He produced the event in efforts to send aid to Haiti after the horrendous earthquake in 2010. He gathered his colleagues, the local dance community and the media together presenting a dance workshop, which consisted of 13 classes taught by some of San Diego's most Prestigious Choreographers. Over 100 attended, and the event was a hit.
Mr. Ivey has been fortunate to work with many including organizations such as WDO (Wheelchair Dancers Org.). He was featured in a commercial by Nikon and has choreographed and performed on the 2001 Emmy Awards, the 2009 Christian Music Awards, and worked with multitudes of artists and creative professionals such as: popular 80’s band Pretty Poison, American Idol’s Ashley Robles, Mary Murphy of “So You Think You can Dance”, and he iChoreographed and performed for 2-time Grammy Award winning singer, Jason Mraz.
Ramón holds a degree in Graphic Arts which has been essential to his accomplishments in creating branding, websites, and other digital media for businesses of many industries including: International Manufacturing, Music, Medical and Landscaping. One of Ramón Ivey's defining moments came when he founded his company, Ramón Ivey Creatives, LLC. That bold step allowed him to expand his creativity to professionally chart his course and curate a team that shared his vision. Here, he creates an environment where creativity is not just a job but a way of life. The business has become a haven for like-minded individuals, a place where ideas are nurtured, and creativity is allowed to flourish organically.
His journey, marked by entertainment, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, continues to inspire and redefine the standards of creativity in a rapidly evolving world. He takes pride working on his skills and developing himself, but he especially enjoys helping others build their brands and creative visions, seeing them through to fruition.
